Create an account! If you have an account on any Wikimedia site, just log in with your existing credentials.

Take notes while capturing photos to make it easier to add details when uploading them later.
Upload to Commons
Upload your photographs to Wikimedia Commons between April 14 to May 15, 2025, via this link.
Prepare Your Media
- Select Content: Choose photographs that meet the contest criteria and scope.
- Ensure Originality: Only upload media you’ve personally created. Avoid copyrighted content unless you have permission to share it.
Create or log into your Wikimedia Commons account:
- New Users: If you don’t have an account, create one.
- Existing Users: Log in to your account.
Understand Upload Eligibility
Wikimedia Commons only accepts educational and freely licensed images:
- Own Work: Upload only images you create, without copyrighted elements.
- Licensed Content: You may upload others’ work if they’ve freely licensed it.
- Permission Required: No uploads of others’ work without verified permission through the VRT system.
- Educational Use Only: Commons is not for personal photo storage.

Upload to Wikimedia Commons
- Getting Started: Go to the Upload Wizard on Wikimedia Commons.
- Check Eligibility: Review guidelines to ensure your file meets the requirements. Click Next when ready.
- Select Files: Click the Upload button and select media files to share and choose images from your device.
- License: Click Continue and select the appropriate license. Click Next to proceed.
- Details: Add a clear title, description, date of creation, and relevant categories.
Once done, your file will be published on Wikimedia Commons!
Rules
- Photographs must be taken by you and must be your original work.
- Ensure your photo includes the EXIF data or relevant metadata (such as camera settings, date, and location) to support its authenticity and context.
- The image file should normally have at least 2 megapixels of resolution.
- Photos must be uploaded between April 14 and May 15, 2026.
- By uploading your works, you agree to release them under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license, allowing others to reuse them with appropriate attribution.
- Photos must not contain any watermarks, texts, borders, etc.
- Your Wikimedia account must have an active email address linked to it (you can add or update your email here).
- If a photo is deleted from Wikimedia Commons for any reason, it will automatically be disqualified from the contest.
- When uploading a photo, you must include the full details and the location in the description box. Failure to provide this information may result in disqualification from winning a prize.
